Nature of Work:

This position is responsible for managing inspection, maintenance, repair and budget of our fleet through inventory control systems, equipment tracking and maintenance programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.

  • Manages fleet maintenance program. Serves as technical resource to regional equipment managers and road mechanics throughout the company.
  • Tracks equipment location, movements, and maintenance schedules to ensure optimized use of company assets.
  • Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Oversees and manages Mechanics based out of our New Berlin Shop including prioritizing and assigning work.
  • Works with vendors for external repairs and services for equipment and vehicles.
  • Develops and implements practices and procedures to ensure security of company equipment and materials.
  • Identifies best practices and improvements and implements them to fit the company.

  1. Technical Degree or Relevant Certification (such as ASE) related to mechanic and repair skills of vehicles and equipment preferred, but relevant experience and/or equipment knowledge may be substituted for this requirement.
  2. Familiar with heavy truck, trailer, and construction equipment repair and maintenance.
  3. Thorough knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  4. Ability to coordinate programs, prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Knowledge of MS Office is required. Experience with fleet management software preferred.
