KS Energy Services is a growing construction company that installs underground pipes and cables that power our lives -- from lighting offices to heating homes.  This kind of work demands knowing that everyone in this company is safe and efficient; in fact that is our first priority for everyone in the organization.  As the company continues to grow, we are looking for an IT Intern to help ensure the company stays on track to reach our goals.

Nature of Work:

This is a part-time internship, with a minimum requirement of 20 hours per week. Assisting in the IT department, and working closely with business unit representatives, tasks primarily include developing and testing software utilities; creating reports; coding, testing, and executing data migrations; maintaining application data; and designing application interfaces that keep our business processes moving forward as we execute on our digital roadmap. There is also potential to assist in other activities including: requirements gathering, application design, and load testing. This position reports to the IT Business Partner. We are seeking an intern that can start immediately.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.

• Analyze existing Excel-based data, work with business unit representatives to understand how data is used, then map and load it to target systems
• Develop VBA or other scripted utilities to transform and load data into target systems
• Assist business unit representatives (finance, accounting, fleet, HR, payroll, etc.) by writing customized reports that meet their data/process needs
• Update/modify existing software applications to meet evolving business needs
• Code/test/document/execute data audit/validation routines to help identify issues with data input into systems
• Strategize with business partners to offer solutions and solve problems
• Special projects as assigned

1. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, computer science, or related field.
2. General knowledge and/or interest in overall business operations.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
4. Ability to maintain professionalism and provide high customer service.
5. Solid educational base in computer programming languages such as VBA, JAVA, or SQL
6. Ability to work independently.
7. Minimum of sophomore standing with GPA 3.0 or higher within major. 

Previous experience with Excel, VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Azure preferred.

Wage:
Starting at $15/hr
