Nature of Work:

This union position is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing company equipment and vehicles.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.

 

  • Repair and maintain mobile light/medium equipment and company fleet trucks.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Diagnose and fix equipment problems.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, including proper storage, return or disposal of parts after each job.

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary degree or certification in diesel technology, heavy equipment and/or large drill maintenance and repair strongly preferred.
  2. 2 years of demonstrated mechanical aptitude including knowledge of parts and components construction equipment and engines as well as the tools to fix them.
  3. Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot and solve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

  1. Most of the work will be performed in a shop environment.
  2. This job requires physicality including: prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting; exerting push and pull forces with arms in order to use various tools; using hands to grasp tools and parts; and climbing onto and around equipment and vehicles.
