Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Finance & Accounting Intern to join our growing team! This student intern will work an average of 20 hours a week during the Spring semester and 40 hours a week in the Summer in our Mount Prospect, IL office. This position will be primarily in an office setting.

Nature of Work:

Provide support to finance, accounting, and other back-office functions tied to operations. Tasks primarily include processing transactions and maintaining entries for: accounts payable, journal entries, vendor invoices, statements, billings, or other documents. There is also potential to assist in other accounting and finance activities including month-end closings, forecasting and profitability analysis and document control functions such as scanning, data entry and SharePoint.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
  • Provide accurate and timely details for accounting entry and processing.
  • Review and post invoices.
  • Runs and prepares routine financial reports for analysis. Perform variance analysis as requested by leadership.
  • Prepare client invoices by collecting and analyzing data according to contract standards.
  • Scan field documents, label, and document control in SharePoint.
  • Data entry on documents received from operations.
  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, geography, or related field.
  • Aptitude for math, and proficiency with computers including strong MS Excel knowledge.  MS Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail. High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
  • Ability to follow directions and critically think to improve functions and processes.
