Description

We are seeking an efficient, self-motivated Safety/OQ Specialist to join our team. 

Nature of Work:

This professional position ensures OQ certification and training compliance for our team through training, testing, qualification, and record keeping.  This individual is also responsible for ensuring employee adherence to safety policies & procedures on construction job sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.

  • Determine and schedule OQ training qualification compliance dates.
  • Oversee scheduling, logistics and execution of qualification training.
  • Conduct OQ training, testing, and evaluations for new & current team members.
  • Maintain technical training programs and related records/documentation.
  • Enter data, update, and maintain computer-based record-keeping system and compliance reporting.
  • Conduct new hire orientations and safety training.
  • Help build and maintain a safe work culture.
  • Conduct job site safety evaluations and inspections to verify compliance with company and government safety policies and standards.
  • Assist with post-incident response: secure evidence for post incident investigations, collect post incident data, and make sure all injuries are reported in a timely fashion.

  1. Demonstrated ability to develop and train key concepts to various audiences.
  2. Minimum 3 years underground utility installation experience, or formal training, and strong desire to grow within the utilities industry.
  3. Professionalism, integrity and self-sufficient.
  4. Highly motivated self-starter who is able to prioritize workload.
  5. Aptitude for technology and online systems.
  6. Basic Microsoft Office Skills
  7. Valid driver’s license.
  8. Knowledge of OSHA and DOT Safety requirements.
  9. Demonstrates ability to positively influence others, and develop strong workplace relationships.

Work Conditions/Environment:

  1. Most of the work will be performed in the field at the job site, in all weather conditions.
  2. Some work is performed in an office setting and indoor training center.
  3. Position requires daily travel, within respective area of coverage, as well as possible overnights. A company vehicle will be provided.
