Nature of Work:

This intern position will work full-time in the Summer of 2021.  This internship is responsible for providing safety training, and project and administrative support to the Safety Department.  This position reports to the Safety Director.

Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.

• Works with the Safety department to help build and maintain a safe workplace culture.
• Assists with conducting job-site safety evaluations to verify compliance with company and government safety policies and standards.
• Assists with safety training.
• Establishes and maintains good working relationships with facility employees and department leaders.
• Helps organize, compile, track and file weekly crew paperwork (Toolbox Talks & Take 5s, Jobsite Inspections).
• Helps maintain Excel spreadsheet of weekly safety inspection data.

Required Competencies:

1. Currently enrolled in a four-year degree program in Occupational Safety, or related field.
2. Preferred 3.0 cumulative GPA.
3. Minimum Sophomore standing.
4. Highly motivated self-starter who is able to prioritize workload
5. Ability to positively influence others and develop strong workplace relations.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

1. Previous construction experience.
2. Familiarity with basic OSHA regulations.
